Six Ways to Create Your Own Sabbath

I've been teaching a class about the Genesis story of creation and thinking a lot about Sabbath.

On the seventh day, after the whole world was created, the story says God rested.

Are you allowing yourself a day of rest now and then? If God did it, then surely you have permission for a Sabbath of your own making.

In this week's blog, I came up with some ideas for creating a spiritual but not religious Sabbath.

The Source of Your Creativity

What do you think causes creativity?

I mean, where does it come from?

I believe it's an innate part of who we are, but are creative ideas really our own? Or are the ideas themselves seeking us out, hoping to be expressed?

In this week's blog, I ruminated about the creative process and what really might be happening as we wield our talents.

We Are Divine, No Matter What We Do

Posted July 4, 2016

A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about Westley, a 5-year-old in my church, who had some profound insights about God.

Two things have happened since then.

First, Westley and his mom made this video so he could elaborate on his views. His little brother makes a cameo appearance.

Second, several people jumped in to answer Westley's question about Jesus. Namely, if everyone is divine, what makes Jesus so special?

I tried answering his question this week, too, especially after a reader challenged the idea that all people are divine.

The blog is here, and the video is above.
